China, Pakistan to Further Bilateral Cooperation

China and Pakistan reaffirmed on Wednesday that the two countries are going to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between them. The agreement came at a meeting between the Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing and Pakistan Chief Executive Pervez Musharraf, who are here to attend the first South Summit which brings together the heads of state and government from more than 100 developing countries around the world.

Li said at the meeting that China attaches great importance to developing a cooperative partnership with Pakistan in a comprehensive way, because, as he stressed, this is in the fundamental interest of the two peoples.

"We believe that with our joint efforts, the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Pakistan will be further developed," the Chinese Vice Premier said.

Musharraf highly appreciated China's participation in the South Summit, saying that this would help strengthen the unity and cooperation among the developing countries.

He also stressed that the Pakistani government would continue its efforts in trying to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between Pakistan and China.
