Shanghai Launching Cancer Prevention Campaign

Shanghai started a week long publicity drive on cancer prevention Saturday.

The Shanghai Disease Prevention and Control Center issued an hour long educational video teaching people how to detect liver, stomach, breast and intestinal cancer at the early stages.

The number of cancer patients increases by 32,000 every year in Shanghai. Over 23,000 people die of cancer every year. One in every four cancer patients die for the disease.

According to the latest statistics, cancer has become the No.1 killer among people aged 15-64 in Shanghai. However, doctors say that about one third of the patients can be cured if the disease is found at the early stage.

Major hospitals in Shanghai will take part in the cancer prevention campaign.
