China to Consider Tax Preferences for Internet Economy

China's Minister of Finance said at the on-going China Business Summit 2000 Monday that China will consider preferential tax policies for development of the Internet economy in China.

As to the question of taxation on the Internet put forwarded at the Summit, the Finance Minister has replied that it is really a problem commonly concerned and he favors preferential taxation policies for the Internet economy.

The minister also said he is planning to send a group to the US and other countries to study how other governments are dealing with the burgeoning e-commerce industry in a bid to make final decision on this problem.
