Yugoslav Official Urges Eurocorps to Protect All Citizens in Kosovo

Stanimir Vukichevich, chairman of Yugoslavia's Committee of Cooperation with the U.N. administration in Kosovo (UNMIK), urged Eurocorps to protect all the citizens in Kosovo during his talks with commander of KFOR and Eurocorps Juan Ortuno Thursday in Pristina, capital of Kosovo. The main tasks of Kosovo included "repatriating refugees, recovering economy, protecting agriculture, and increasing the confidence of non-ethnic Albanians in KFOR and UNMIK," said Vukichevich.

Ortuno said he would abide by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244 on the Kosovo issue and take actions to increase security in Kosovo, especially protect Serbs there.

Ortuno, a Spanish Lieutenant-General, took over as KFOR commander from General Klaus Reinhardt of Germany on Tuesday.
