Fujian to Open Mazu Cultural Tour Festival Web-site

A web-site dedicated to providing information about the Mazu cultural tour festival has been launched lately and overseas Chinese interested in the festival are able to view the grand event without setting foot outside. Just a surfing on the web-site will be able to find out the information about activities of Mazu festival.

April 27 marks the 1040th anniversary of Mazu's birthday, the goddess of the sea. The Putian Government of Fujian Province will hold a Mazu Cultural Tour Festival from April 27 to May 6 at Meizhou Island, home to the Goddess of Mazu.

There are many Mazu believers in the world, Meizhou, Fujian province, the cradle and hometown of Mazu, has become a "Mecca" for many overseas Chinese and Taiwanese. More than 100,000 Taiwan pilgrims go to Meizhou to pay their homage to Mazu every year.

To better carry forward Mazu culture in commemoration of the 1040th birthday of Mazu, a cultural tour festival consecrated to the Goddess Mazu will be held at Meizhou Island.
