CPPCC Chairman Leaves for Four-Nation Trip
Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), left May 8 for an official goodwill visit to Canada, the Republic Bolivariana of Venezuela, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Republic of Peru.
Li is paying the visit at the invitation of the governments of the four countries.
Seeing Li and his entourage off at the Great Hall of the People were Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Ye Xuanping, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Bai Keming, Vice- Chairman of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) Central Committee Mei Xiangming, deputy secretaries-general of CPPCC National Committee Wang Julu and Zhang Guoxiang, a leading official of the Foreign Ministry Wu Donghe and diplomatic envoys from the above-mentioned four countries.
Li's entourage includes Secretary-General of CPPCC National Committee Zheng Wantong, Chairman of the Subcommittee of Social and Legal Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Senhao, Chairman of the CPPCC Shaanxi Provincial Committee An Qiyuan, Chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Municipal Committee Wang Liping, Member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC National Committee and Vice-Chairman of CAPD Central Committee Chu Zhuang, Vice-Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Member of CPPCC National Committee and Vice- Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Shen Peng, and Deputy Secretary-General of the CPPCC National Committee and Director of Li's Office Li Changjian.
