China, Indonesia Sign Joint Statement on Future Cooperation

China and Indonesia Monday vowed to further promote good-neighborly relations of mutual trust in the 21st century.

In a joint statement on the future directions of bilateral cooperation signed here this afternoon, the two countries agreed to "establish and develop a long-term and stable relationship of good-neighborliness, mutual trust and all-round cooperation."

Such a relationship is meant to consolidate the existing traditional friendship and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all areas in the 21st century.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and Indonesian Foreign Minister Alwi Shihab signed the joint statement on behalf of their respective governments.

Shihab is here for a five-day official visit to China at the invitation of Tang.
