Yinchuan Opens Up Urban Construction To Domestic, Overseas InvestorsYinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, will open up its urban construction market to both domestic and overseas enterprises this year.Self-employed individuals and private businesses are also welcome to invest in the construction of urban infrastructure facilities, according to the city construction committee. By 2005, more than 3 billion yuan (US$ 361.3 million) will be invested in over 100 projects including construction and improvement of urban roads, expansion of water plants, sewage treatment and urban greenery projects, according to local sources. Urban roads are expected to reach the national average per capita for city dwellers and tap water supplies will amount to 500, 000 cubic meters daily, or twice the figure for 1999. Fifty-six percent of the city's total sewage will be treated upon the completion of related projects. All local citizens are expected to use gas for cooking by 2005 as a result of the construction of gas supply projects. |
