"China Forum" Cements National Spirit

"China Forum", the first online forum in China, since setting up merely one year, with a daily pageview of over 100,000 visitors, and registered users of over 30,000, has become a tie to unite people's thinking together from home and abroad.

As a BBS forum on People's Daily Online, the forum was launched on May 9 last year. The opening of "Protest Against NATO Atrocity Forum" aiming at protesting against the U.S.-led NATO attack on the Chinese embassy in Belgrade has received overwhelming welcome from home and abroad; within a month, poster volume has hit 90,000 pieces. "Only by strengthening our economy, building national defense strength, enhancing national spirit can we make a strong power of our motherland" has become a common call that strikes a chord in people's hearts. On the basis of this, the forum was renamed as "China Forum". Later, People's Daily Online launched "Reading Forum", "Sports BBS", "Health Forum" and 4 others, thus forming a comprehensive BBS forum with "China Forum" at the core.

At the First Anniversary of "China Forum Symposium" held on May 16, officials from CCCPC Publicity Department, Information Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Information Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with elites from some well-known websites all gave their high opinion in praise of the significance of opening of "China Forum". They said that in the highly-developed Internet era, "China Forum" has by its rich content attracted many overseas and domestic Internet users. By taking full advantage of Internet's interactive role and the authoritative influence of People's Daily, focusing on major events and hot issues, inviting experts from various circles to meet and chat with netizens through the Internet on the forum and publicizing national related policies, it has become an online bridge to link netizens with the Chinese government.
