Strengthening of Party Building Demanded

Our Daily carries an editorial Monday calling for strengthening of Party building in line with President Jiang Zemin's recent remarks about Party building.

The editorial, titled "Great Guiding Principle for Strengthening Party Building Comprehensively," says Jiang's comments that the CPC represents advanced productivity, an advanced culture and the fundamental interests of the people in China have both immediate and long-term significance.

These "three representatives" reflect the nature of the Party and socialism and have answered the question of how to build the Party in the 21st century, the editorial says.

The Party originated and steadily grew with China's reform and opening up drive because it has been adhering to the "three representatives," the editorial notes.

The "three representatives" should be further implemented to establish the Party in an unassailable position in the new century, the editorial says.
