"Plan for Healthy Growth of Chinese Children" Launched

The Plan for Healthy Growth of Chinese Children, a large-scale children's public welfare project, was launched on May 23, the opening ceremony was held in Beijing's Great Hall of the People . The project was jointly sponsored by China Children and Teenagers' Fund, the Safety Production Bureau of the State Economic and Trade Commission and Beijing Tian Di Da Fang Sci-Tech Cultural Development Co. Ltd., with the participation of several ministries and commissions as well as work units.

The plan includes three contents: conducting publicity education by various forms through the mass media, passing on safety theory, practical knowledge, self-protection technology to children, so as to help them gradually form safe and healthy living habits and standard for good behavior; mobilize the whole society and all the families to pay close attention to the healthy growth of Chinese children; provide reliable and effective material guarantee and a favorable social environment for the healthy growth of Chinese children both physically and psychologically.

To provide funding support for the plan, the China Children and Teenagers' Fund has established "the special fund for the healthy growth of Chinese children".

At the opening ceremony Tuesday, Mr. Huang Shi-ling, a famous pubic figure in Hong Kong, took the lead in donating 1 million yuan generously. Shanxi Haisi Medicine Company donated 300,000 yuan. Beijing San Yuan Foodstuff Co. Ltd. contributed 100,000 yuan.
