Ericsson Sets Up Its Ninth Joint Venture in China

Ericsson recently announced that its ninth joint venture in China had been set up.

The new joint venture, Heilongjiang Ericsson Technology Co. Ltd, was set up by Ericsson and the Heilongjiang Mobil Telecom Company and will mainly conduct R&D and technological services in both domestic and international market.

Lenna Hjelmwallen, Vice Prime Minister of Sweden, and Song Fatang, Governor of Heilongjiang Province, issued the business license.

There are 1.58 million mobile phone users in Heilongjiang. The figure is expected to reach 4 million by 2004.

According to latest statistics, China's total number of mobile phone users has reached 50 million.
