Beijing to Hold "21st Century Forum"

The "21st Century Forum" will be held here on June 14-16, according to its sponsor, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Tian Zengpei, the organizing committee's secretary-general, said that a number of politicians, economists and entrepreneurs from 21 countries will discuss Asia's role and China's development in the global economy.

Entrepreneurs and economists will talk about the strategies of Chinese enterprises competing in the international market and transnational enterprises operating in China. Talks on Internet economy and e-commerce will also be delivered.

The organizing committee is headed by Ye Xuanping, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. CPPCC National Committee Chairman Li Ruihuan, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, is the honorary president.

The CPPCC National Committee held an international forum here in September, 1996 to discuss prospects for the 21st century.
