FM Spokesman on Albright's Coming China Visit

China sincerely hopes that the United States will strictly observe the three Sino-US joint communiques and relevant commitments it has made, and take practical measures to promote a healthy and steady growth of bilateral ties, foreign ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzhao said Tuesday.

According to Zhu, this was what China expected from the talks to be held between Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who will pay a visit to China from June 22 to 23 as Tang's guest.

Apart from talks with Tang, Albright will also meet with Chinese state leaders and discuss bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.

The spokesman today also urged the US to actively respond to the international appeal to abandon as soon as possible its NMD and TMD systems, which would obstruct both global and regional security.
