International Boat Festival on Qingjiang River

The city of Enshi in central China's Hubei Province will host an international boat festival on one of the tributaries of the Yangtze River from August to October.

Participants will have to pass 49 dangerous shoals while drifting on the 38.5-km-long section of Qingjiang River.

Qingjiang abounds in hydroelectric resources and construction of three hydropower plants is being carried out on the river.

Enshi City is located on the upper reaches of Qingjiang River in southwest Hubei. It is also the seat of Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Enshi.

Other activities will also be held including folk performances by Tujia and Miao minorities.

The festival will be sponsored by Hubei Provincial Government and organized by Enshi Autonomous Prefecture Government and four other provincial government organizations
