Sports Goods Fair Opens in Guangzhou
The first China 2000 (Guangdong) International Sports Commodities Fair opened Thursday in this capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
The event, sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Sports Affairs Administration and China Foreign Trade Center (Group), is aimed at promoting the Ninth China National Games, which are scheduled to be hosted by Guangdong in 2001.
More than 200 companies, 20 percent of which are from overseas, will display their wares at the fair, ranging from sports and body- building equipment to sports clothing and footwear.
An auction will be held during the fair to sell sports equipment as well as the logo copyright for the China National Games.
