China Firmly Opposes Lee Teng-Hui's Visit to UK: Spokesman

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao said in Beijng Tuesday that China is firmly opposed to Lee Teng-hui's visit to Britain in any forms, and the Ministry has made solemn representations with the British Government on the matter.

The spokesman made the remarks at a regular press conference.

"It is known to all that Lee Teng-hui has always engaged in activities of trying to split China," Zhu said.

The spokesman described Lee Teng-hui as a "trouble-maker" who has also put forward the notorious "two-state theory" and tried his best to trumpet "Taiwan independence".

Lee has reportedly traveled to Britain on Tuesday.
