Beijing Reception Marks Sino-Bolivian Diplomatic Ties

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held a reception in Beijing Wednesday to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bolivia.

Qi Huaiyuan, president of the association, said on the occasion that bilateral relations have been progressing well since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, adding that the exchange and cooperation between the two sides in various areas have been increasing.

He said that the 15 years of diplomatic relations have shown the good foundation of friendship between the two countries.

He said that he believed cooperation and friendship between the two peoples will be more fruitful, with concerted efforts from both sides.

Bolivian Ambassador to China Oscar Zamora Medinaceli said that the two peoples have made unremitting efforts during the past 15 years to develop friendship between them.

He said that the Bolivian government will stick to the "one- China" principle, stressing that Bolivia will never change this policy.

He thanked the Chinese government for its support for Bolivia in various areas, and said that he believes the friendly cooperation between the two countries will grow further.

China's Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was among those present at the reception.
