Beijing to Host Asian-Pacific Cocktail-Mixing Match

The 2000 Asian-Pacific cocktail- mixing match is scheduled to be held in Beijing July 23-25.

Mixologists from China, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia will gather at Friday's Restaurant to make colorful cocktails, according to general manager Sun Dayu.

The profession of mixologists has become more and more attractive for Chinese young people due to the rapid development of hotels and bars in the country. At the same time, China's labor administration department now requires that hopeful mixologists be systematically trained and acquire related professional certificates.

Friday's Restaurant, founded in New York in 1965, established its first China branch in Beijing in 1995.

Friday's has decided to open a third restaurant in Beijing in Zhongguancun, known as China's Silicon Valley, this year, said Sun.
