Tung Urges Voters to Vote in September Poll

Voters' participation and support is of utmost importance to ensure the success of the forthcoming Legislative Council elections, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa said Sunday.

Addressing a ceremony, Tung encouraged the three million voters to vote in the Legislative Council elections this September.

The event, jointly officiated by Tung, Administrative Secretary Anson Chan and other senior officials, marked the official commencement of the publicity program for the Legislative Council elections.

Nomination for the elections will begin on July 20 and end on August 2 and the poll will take place on September 10.

Of the 60 Legislative Council seats, 24 will be returned by geographical constituencies, 30 by functional constituencies and six by an Election Committee.
