Mongolia Gets New Parliament Chairman

Lhamsurengyn Enebish, general secretary of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), was elected chairman of the new State Great Khural (parliament) of Mongolia at the parliament's first session held on Wednesday.

Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandi and all the newly-elected parliament members, including MPRP President Nambaryn EnkhBayar, attended the meeting, which was presided over by former Prime Minister Puntsagiin Jasrai, the eldest of the new parliament members.

The vice-chairman of the parliament will be elected in the afternoon.

The MPRP won the Mongolian parliamentary election on July 2, clinching 72 of the total 76 seats contested.
