Tibetan Students Publicize Sciences on Grassland

A total of 325 college and technical secondary school students in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region went to pastoral areas on July 21 to spread basic scientific knowledge.

One student said that they wanted to teach herdsmen to become more science and technology-minded, so that they can battle diseases more effectively and protect the environment. He noted that superstition and pseudoscience still wield a great deal of influence in Tibet.

Meanwhile, 30 doctorate-degree holders from Beijing University, Qinghua University and Nanjing Teachers University left with the Tibetan students. They intend to carry out an investigation into water resources, help to breed high-quality grain seeds, and hold extensive exchanges with the Tibetan students.

The activity will last until mid-August.
