Hu Jintao Arrives in Bali for Official Visit to Indonesia


Chinese Vice-president Meets Indonesian FM
Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao arrived Bali(Indonesia) Saturday afternoon for a four-day official visit to Indonesia, the third leg of his current five-nation tour, at the invitation of Indonesian Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

As Hu walked down from the special plane, he received a warm welcome from Indonesian high-ranking officials including Foreign Minister Alwi Shihab, Transportation Minister Agum Gumelar, Vice-President's Secretary Bambang Kesowo, Governor of the Bali Province Dewa Made Beratha.

Upon his arrival at the Grand Hyatt Bali hotel, Hu was warmly greeted by more than 100 representatives of overseas Chinese and local artists who gave musical performance and presented flowers to him.

The Chinese vice-president met the Indonesian foreign minister in the hotel later in the afternoon and had a friendly talk with him.

Hu, who leaves here for Jakarta, capital of Indonesia on Sunday, is expected to have meetings or talks with Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid, Vice President Megawati, Speaker of People's Consultative Assembly Amien Rais and Chairman of House of Representatives Akbar Tanjung respectively during his visit.

They are expected to discuss bilateral relations between China and Indonesia, mutually beneficial cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
