Education Network Expanding Nationwide

The China Education and Research Computer Network has seen notable progress over the past one and a half years.

So far, the network has extended to over 700 universities and research institutes in 70 cities, and is used by some three million people across the country.

The network has set up 36 nodes in major Chinese cities and over 200,000 mainframes. The five 155-M trial routes such as the Beijing-Wuhan route, guarantees a smooth operation of long- distance education.

It is estimated that most provinces and cities will open high- speed transmission routes by the end of the year.
