Chinese Premier Meets Nigerien Visitor
Premier Zhu Rongji met Wednesday morning with Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration Sabo Nassirou.

Zhu said China and Niger enjoy traditional friendship, and especially in recent years, cooperation in the political, economic, trade, cultural and other sectors have produced fruitful results.

He highly appreciated Niger government's support of the One-China Principle and said he was happy with the sound cooperation between the two countries on both international and regional matters.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with Niger and is willing to explore and promote economic and trade cooperation with Niger to lift their bilateral ties to a new high in the new century, said the Premier.

Sabo Nassirou conveyed to Zhu a letter to President Jiang Zemin from President Tandja Mamadou and a letter to the Premier himself from Prime Minister Hama Amadou. Niger also highly stresses its relationship with China and hopes to expand economic and trade relations and cooperation in all other fields, he said.

Sabo Nassirou and Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng presided over the first meeting of China-Niger Mixed Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation on Monday. They signed the minute on the meeting on behalf of their respective governments this morning.
