Monk Donates Money For New Primary School

Children in a small village in Wutai County in north China's Shanxi Province will be able to have classes in bright and spacious classrooms when the autumn term begins thanks to a monk in the Wutai Mountain.

The monk with the Buddhist name "Yiwei" went to the Hanling village at the beginning of the year, observing all the kids study in an old temple. Wang Yongping, a teacher in the primary school, told Yiwei they had been always wanting to build a new one, but they were not able to get enough money.

Yiwei collected some 400,000 yuan (about 48,000 US dollars) for a new primary school for the village children.

The primary school will have twelve classrooms, six teacher dormitories, two offices, a meeting room, a computer room, a lab, a library and also an orphanage.
