International Cooperation in Altay Region Has Great ProspectsChina, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia pledged to conduct multilateral cooperation in animal husbandry, cultivation, mining and tourism in the Altay region on the principle of mutual benefit and common prosperity.The Altay region covers an area of 700,000 square kilometers shared by China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. It is rich in gold, water and other national resources and has beautiful scenery. It is also home to many rare animals and plants. Experts attending the Altay International Seminar on Technological and Economic Cooperation held recently in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region agreed there is a great prospect for cooperation among the four countries in the Altay region. They suggested joint effort be made to build a world-class forest industrial base, modern mining and mineral processing bases, high-quality animal by-products processing centers, and a transnational tourism zone. The seminar was organized by China's Ministry of Science and Technology. Nearly 50 representatives from the four countries spoke on the opening of border ports, infrastructure construction, economic and trade cooperation, establishment of cross-country free trade zones and tourism development. |
