Indonesian Police Investigating Bomb Explosion

Indonesian police is investigating the bomb blast which occurred in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

"The police is still investigating the motive behind the bomb explosion. And we don't know why the bomb blasted at the Philippine Embassy. We also still don't know whether or not the bomb blast has something to do with Philippine affairs. Just wait," spokesman of the National Police Brig. Gen. Dadang Garnida told Xinhua.

At least three persons were killed and 17 others, including Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leonides Caday, were wounded in the bomb blast which occurred at 12:25 local time (05:25 GMT).

The blast shattered the glass windows of the General Election Committee (KPU) building, and damaged a wall of the residence of the Philippine ambassador and the fence of the Bulgarian embassy.

The explosion was felt up to 500 meters from the location and formed a huge black mushroom-shaped smoke. Some witnesses said the bomb appeared to have been triggered by a car bomb.
