Colleges Run by Citizens on the Rise in Guangdong

There are presently six colleges run by citizens in Guangdong province, accounting for one sixth of the nation's total, and one eighth of the province's 52 public-run colleges, ranking the first in China in terms of the proportion of civilian-run colleges.

According to the person in charge of the Guangdong Education Bureau this year saw civilian-run colleges favored by many high school graduates as did in the past. Many students take such colleges as a way to continue their education, and this year, the total planned enrollment in civilian-run colleges is 8,000, which has made the dream come true for the students who failed to enter public-run colleges.
