CAIM Held Fifth Conference

August 5 saw the Chinese Association of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine (CAIM) holding its fifth conference in Beijing. The conference selected a total of 181 heads its new council members with Chen Keji, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences elected president of the Association, Chen Shikui, Wei Beihai the vice presidents.

Founded in 1981, the CAIM with 50,000 members is an academic organization aiming at pushing forward the integration of traditional Chinese and western medicines. It is an important component part of the China Association For Science and Technology. During its fourth council period, the Association held 125 national academic activities, published more than 20, 000 essays with a great number of scientific research results achieved. The first world conference for the integration of Chinese medicine and western medicine held in 1997 had gathered more than 1,400 scholars from all over the world, rousing a great attention both at home and abroad.
