Beijing to Build 2008 Olympics Boulevard

A high-level roadside greenbelt along Beijing's 4th Loop Road is expected to be built 100 meters wide and 65.48 km long by the end of June next year and this will be shown as an important project construction facilitating application for 2008 Olympics Games to be held in Beijing.

On the morning of August 9, Mayor Liu Qi and Vice Mayor Wang Guangtao of Beijing, issued the call for construction of the 100-meter-wide, 65.48-km-long 4th Loop Road greenbelt.

The International Olympics Committee (IOC) will come on an inspection tour of Beijing to check into the city's preparations for applying to host the 2008 Olympics Games from February to April next year, told Liu Qi. He said that as 2008 Olympics Boulevard for applying to host the 2008 Olympics Games, the 4th Loop Road will be a hub ground for holding a series of important activities.

According to Beijing Evening, after its completion of construction the 4th Loop Road with the Airport Road and Chang'an Avenue will become a beautiful boulevard to greet caravans of state guests.

A report close to authoritative departments says that greening areas around 13 overpasses including Siyuan, Sihui and Shibalidian and greenery construction of 18 large land patches will become 31 bright pearls mounted on the 4th Loop Road "Green Necklace" of Beijing.
