Chinese Helicopter Rescues American Engineer

A Chinese military helicopter has speeded an injured American engineer to the Friendship Hospital in Urumqi, capital city of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

On the afternoon of August 8, Joe Halligan was seriously scalded in the face and chest while he and two other Americans were testing machines for processing tomato sauce in Bole City.

Halligan was immediately sent to a local hospital for first aid, but he was not out of danger. The local people's government decided to transfer him to Urumqi,455 km away.

The Bole City government asked the government of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Military Area Command to send a helicopter for the task.

On August 11, a helicopter sent by the military area command arrived at Bole, and transferred Halligan to Urumqi within two hours.

Halligan is now out of danger, and is flying for home via Hong Kong.
