CPC Members, Officials Told to Watch Anti-Corruption FilmFour authoritative bodies in charge of the ideological field recently issued a joint circular asking all members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and officials to watch "Live or Die", an anti-corruption movie that has stirred many cities after its debut.The four departments are the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the CPC Organization Department, the CPC Publicity Department and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. The film, a new product from the Shanghai Film Studio, is a cuts to the heart of the issue of fighting corruption, says the circular. It says that the film depicts the determination of the CPC to combat corruption and is a "vivid textbook" for the current campaign against corruption in the country. It urges local CPC bodies to organize Party members and officials, those at the county-level and above in particular, to watch the film. Meanwhile, local departments concerned should try to help circulate the movie, it says. The media is also asked to help officials and ordinary people have the correct understanding of the film and increase their confidence in the ongoing anti-corruption drive. According to previous reports, the much talked about film is about how the character, Mayor Li Gaocheng, struggles against corrupt officials, including one of his long-time friends, and his wife who has been lured into crime. |
