Hong Kong Star Barred from Donning Drag in Malaysian Concert

Popular Hong Kong actor-singer Leslie Cheung Kok-Wing has been barred from donning drag for his concert in Malaysia on September 9, the Sunday Mail reported.

Due to strict local laws, Cheung has been advised by the Malaysian organiser not to be in drag nor don long-haired wigs like he did during his recent sold-out performances in Hong Kong, the newspaper said.

But it said the Hong Kong star will not be short of sartorial attractions as his costumes will be specially designed by Frenchman Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Cheung, 44, last staged a concert in Kuala Lumpur 11 years ago. He retired from singing in 1990 to focus on his acting career but made a comeback in 1997.
