New Anti-virus Vaccine Comes out of Lab

A new type of anti-virus vaccine has been brought to light in Shanghai and will be put into mass production. The breakthrough will exert a far-reaching influence on China's animal husbandry, and the result indicates that the gene engineering technology is going to take the place of the traditional method and become a new "weapon" in the prevention and curing of virus infections on livestock.

The vaccine is a national key high-tech project. Running through the period of the "Sixth Five Year Plan" to "the Ninth", the subject research group with Fudan University and Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences taking the lead has worked in cooperation, developing successfully the relevant biotech study and applied it in animal bodies. Compared to the traditional non-gene vaccine, the new vaccine works much safer and quite efficient too. So far, the research result has passed the test and is certified with the national invention patent.

The Fuhua Group, in behalf of Fudan University and Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, yesterday signed an agreement of cooperation with the Jinyu Group of Inner Mongolia for the industrialization of the vaccine. Present and addressed at the signing ceremony are Zuo Huanchen vice mayor of Shanghai and Liu Xiu, mayor of the Hohhot City.
