PBOC Investigation: Residents' Financial Investment Channeled into Stock Market

An investigation conducted by the People's Bank of China shows that the urban residents' saving desire continues to weaken this year and the residents' financial investment is further centralized to stock market. The diversion of savings has played a boosting role in the development of China's capital market.

According to statistics, during May-July period, the balance of residents' savings has presented negative growth rate twice, showing resident' saving intention continues to get weak.

The investigation also shows that the weakening of residents' saving intention has played a boosting role in the development of China's capital market. Since the start of this year, the residents have shown robust intention to invest in the stock market. In the first three quarters, the residents' savings were mainly diverted to the stock market.

The investigation also shows that the residents show optimistic attitude toward the increase of income and the improvement in income expectation is conducive to the increase of residents' consuming ability. (Panorama)
