Guangdong Expects Export Boom

South China's Guangdong Province, a pioneer of China's reform and opening up drive, is expected to import and export goods to the value of 160 billion US dollars this year.

The export volume of the province, one of China's top 10 trading provinces and municipalities, accounts for 40 percent of the total export volume in China.

According to latest customs statistics, exports from the province reached 59.35 billion US dollars during the January-August period of this year, up 26.4 percent from the same period last year. The import volume stood at 51.846 billion US dollars, up 28.6 percent.

The gross domestic product (GDP) of the province is expected to hit 900 billion yuan (108 billion US dollars), compared to last year's 845.9 billion yuan (about 102 billion US dollars).
