Int'l Symposium on Taoism, Chinese Traditional Culture Held

An international symposium on Taoism and Chinese traditional culture was held Friday at Sichuan University in the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

More than 100 scholars from China, the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), France and Australia, as well as Taoist representatives from Hong Kong and other parts of China, attended the symposium.

The Institute of Taoism and Religious Culture of Sichuan University, the sponsor of the symposium, will also celebrate its 20th birthday.

The first teaching and research facility in China qualified to grant Ph.D. degree's in religion, the institute has already trained 21 doctors and 47 masters, and published more than 100 academic books.
