Sino-Japanese IT Cooperation, Products Expo Held in Beijing
An exhibition on Japanese information technology and Sino-Japanese cooperation products opened Wednesday in the Great Hall of the People.

Chinese Vice-premier Wu Bangguo visited the show, and the minister in charge of the State Development Planning Commission (SDPC) Zeng Peiyan and the Japanese minister of International Trade and Industry Takeo Hiranuma sent congratulations to the opening ceremony.

A total of eleven Japanese multinationals are participating in the expo, including Fujitsu, Toshiba, Hitachi and Panasonic.

The cooperation products between China and Japan are on show, including tele-medical system, tele-education system and agriculture information system.

Some Japanese advanced information technology and facilities are also on display, including Japan's Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems and information technology in governance.

Zhang Guobao, SDPC vice minister and Katsusada Hirose, Japanese administrative vice minister of International Trade and Industry attended the opening ceremony.

According to Zhang Guobao, President Jiang Zemin and the late Japanese Premier Keizo Obuchi consented on strengthening the two countries' cooperation in information technology in November of 1998, and Premier Zhu Rongji's successful visit to Japan will help increase the Sino-Japanese cooperation in the field.

The two-day event is jointly sponsored by the SDPC and the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
