China Hopes Summit with EU to Push Forward Relations: Spokesman

China hopes that the upcoming summit meeting between Chinese and European Union leaders next week will help push forward constructive bilateral partnership relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Thursday.

Zhu told reporters in a regular press conference that the leaders of China and the European Union will hold the third China-EU Summit on October 23, to exchange views on bilateral relations and other major international issues of common concern. They will discuss new ways and channels of cooperation between them.

"We hope that such a summit will help strengthen mutual understanding and trust, and expand common ground, and therefore, push forward the constructive partnership relations between China and the EU," he said.
