Beijing to Be Copenhagen's Friendship City

Beijing mayor Liu Qi said Friday that the Chinese capital is willing to be a sister city of Denmark's capital Copenhagen .

Liu made the statement when meeting with visiting Copenhagen mayor Jeans Kramer Mikkelsen.

Liu said that Beijing has established friendship city relations with 27 cities in the world, and the city will take necessary steps to expand exchanges and cooperation with Copenhagen.

Liu noted that Beijing is bidding to host the 2008 Olympic Games and it looks forward to the support from Denmark.

Mikkelsen, who visited Beijing in 1981, said that great changes have taken place in Beijing, and Copenhagen is interested in cooperating with the Chinese capital in relic protection, renovating old city areas and environment protection.
