Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to the ongoing third plenary session of the Sino-Russian Committee for Friendship, Peace, and Development Thursday, praising the committee's contribution to bilateral ties.

During the past several years, the committee has sponsored a series of bilateral activities in the economic and cultural fields, which has contributed to the mutual understanding and friendly communication between people of both countries, the President said.

The current meeting carries profound symbolic significance, he noted, expressing a strong conviction that the mutual-trustworthy partnership, strategic coordination, and the overall bilateral cooperation between Russia and China would realize a qualitative lifting in the 21st century.

The committee, which consists of authorities and well-known figures across all fields of both countries, who have great influence in the industrial, cultural, scientific and technological fields, he said, pointing out it is of great significance for committee members to actively join in the efforts to realize the grand goals jointly set forth by the two heads of states in Beijing this July.

He expressed the sincere wish that all participants will make bigger achievements in striving for the friendship and common prosperity of the two countries.
