Exhibition on Chinese People's Volunteers Opens

An exhibition opened Friday to market the 50th anniversary of China sending its volunteers to join forces with the People's Army of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53).

Present at the opening ceremony were Chi Haotian, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and five CMC members, Fu Quanyou, Yu Yongbo, Wang Ke, Guo Boxiong and Xu Houcai.

The exhibition, which is located in the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Museum, is just one of China's programs to mark the historic event.

On October 1950, the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) left home for the first war fought by the People's Republic of China (PRC) after its founding in 1949.

The CPV and the DPRK People's Army fought fierce battles against the US-led invaders, who were under the name of the United Nations, for two years and nine months.

On display were 320 old photos, 24 graphics, nine oil-paintings, two sculptures, six scenes and over 900 relics.
