Arab Leaders Close Emergency Summit Condemning Israel

Arab leaders concluded their two-day emergency summit Sunday in Cairo pledging support for the Palestinians and condemning Israel's bloody crackdown on protesting Palestinians.

In a final resolution, the Arab summit approved setting up 1 billion U.S. dollars of funds to help the Palestinians and called for the United Nations to set up an international tribunal to try Israeli "war criminals" and establish an international force to ensure the protection of Palestinians.

The Arab leader threatened to take limited measures against Israel.

Speaking at the closing session, Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdel-Meguid warned Israel against taking actions that threaten the region and called for a fact-finding team to probe the Palestinian-Israeli violence.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stressed the need to seek a secure future for the region.
