China Expects Overseas Investment in Software Industry

China is expecting overseas venture investment companies to invest in its software industry, according to an international seminar held Tuesday in Xi'an.

Some 100 Chinese and international computer software companies and dozens of venture investment companies from overseas attended the China Software Industry Venture Investment Seminar.

Experts at the meeting said that China will treat overseas venture investors, who put their money in the software industry, the same as local investors.

China is planning to increase the output value of software from 2.2 billion U.S. dollars in 1999 to 14 billion U.S. dollars in 2005. It is also planning to boost the export value of software from 130 million U.S. dollars in 1999 to more than one billion U.S.dollars in the next five years.
