Macao Hosts Exhibition of Works by Colombian Artist

An exhibition of works by a contemporary Colombian artist opened Wednesday at the Macao Museum of Art to help local residents learn more about an important school of Mesoamerican art.

Entitled "Paper and Signs," the exhibition shows 35 pieces of works created by Colombian artist Manuel Hernandez, a key figure who helped bring Colombian art to the forefront of the art world.

Hernandez uses hand-made paper to produce works that are exquisitely crafted. His works reveal an artistic conception which blends boundlessness and restraint, according to a brochure distributed at the exhibition.

Since the early 1960s, Hernandez has been known for his abstract works based on common geometrical forms and created by means of chromatic harmony and inspired composition.

The exhibition will last till November 16.
