French PM Expresses Condolences on Death of Madame Rabin

French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin expressed his condolences November 12 on the death of Lea Rabin and praised her for her contribution to reconciliation and peace between Israelis and Arabs.

"The ideals, which she shared with (former Israeli Prime Minister) Yitzhak Rabin and for which she continued to work after his death, should inspire everybody to act (for peace)," said Jospin.

The leader of the French Communist Party, Robert Hue, also said that Lea Rabin has given an example of courage and tolerance.

"By her moral engagement, Madame Lea Rabin had helped the spirit of peace survive in Israel despite the tragic evolution of today," said Hue.

Lea Rabin died of lung cancer on November 12 in Tel Aviv at the age of 72.
