Chinese President Appoints New Ambassadors

President Jiang Zemin has appointed 12 new ambassadors in accordance with a decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Pan Zhanlin was appointed ambassador to Israel, replacing Wang Changyi.

Wen Xigui was appointed ambassador to Yugoslavia, replacing Pan Zhanlin.

Zhou Xiaopei was appointed ambassador to Poland, replacing Chen Li.

Li Guobang was appointed ambassador to Ukraine, replacing Zhou Xiaopei.

Zhi Zhaolin was appointed ambassador to Croatia, replacing Li Guobang.

Xu Mengshui was appointed ambassador to Cameroon, replacing Gao Ruming.

Shi Tongning was appointed ambassador to Guinea, replacing Xu Mengshui.

Meng Xianke was appointed ambassador to Burundi, replacing Shi Tongning.

Xu Changcai was appointed ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, replacing Chen Huailong.

Zhang Shaying was appointed ambassador to Argentina, replacing Xu Yicong.

Ren Jingyu was appointed ambassador to Chile, replacing Zhang Shaying.
