General Motors to Sell More Cars in West China

US- based automaking giant General Motors signed an agreement with Sichuan Southwest Automobile Trading Co. Ltd. Monday, December 4, that will give the latter the right to sell imported GM cars in western China.

The Sichuan auto trading firm is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Huaxing Automobile Trading Corp.

"We see great market potential in the western regions and so have decided to ship more products to the area," George Green, director of GM China, was quoted as saying by today's China Daily.

GM will exhibit a variety of its Opel and Cadillac models during the 2000 Chengdu International Commercial and Family Auto Exhibition, scheduled for December 7-11.

These models will not only offer more choices for Chinese consumers but reinforce our product lineup in China, according to Green.
