Australia's Ansett Airlines Grounds 6 Aircraft

Australia's Ansett airlines passengers had travel plans disrupted Saturday after the company grounded six aircraft.

Ansett said in a statement Saturday morning that the decision not to fly six Boeing 767-200 planes was made in response to an engineering directive.

The statement said Ansett recognized the move would seriously disrupt Christmas travel and the airlines would be attempting to bring in extra aircraft and operate some services outside normal schedules to minimize the impact.
